J.D. Arndt

Manager

Coach Arndt will be returning for a second year running the show for the Flash. His guidance and expertise lead the Flash to a third place finish in the OVL their first year and has been working hard on this years roster to get the team ready to make a run at an OVL championship. J.D. a graduate of Missouri Baptist University has over 25 years of experience coaching baseball all every level of the game. A former minor league manager and hitting coach, he led his teams to multiple league championships in the Frontier League. His teams normally led the league in team batting average and also coached 4 individual batting champions.

Coach Arndt has also coached at the college level for 16 years and over those 16 years he has coached 25 All-Americans and 50 First Team All Conference players.

Coach Arndt isn’t a rookie in the collegiate summer league either, he has been a head coach in the Alaskan Baseball League, the Great Lakes League and also the Southern Collegiate League. Coach Arndt is definitely known around baseball as a hitting guru but the Henderson Flash family have already seen his commitment and passion as a leader with his dedication in helping our management team continue to grow our organization.

 

Brandon Mattingly

Pitching Coach

Coach Mattingly will be returning for his second year with the Flash, it was evident by watching the growth of the Flash’s pitching staff last summer that Coach Mattingly is one of the best up and coming pitching coaches in the country. Brandon is a graduate of the University of Louisville, he started his collegiate career out as a Pitcher at Purdue University until a shoulder injury ended his playing days. After college he began coaching a highly touted high school travel team called the Louisville Vipers. After a couple of years handling all pitching responsibilities for the Vipers, Coach Mattingly accepted a job as an assistant coach and pitching coach at Asbury University where he is in his 2nd season. His responsibilities at Asbury include handling all in game strategies with pitchers as well as taking care of all the in-season and off-season development. He also is in charge of recruiting pitchers for Asbury as well as setting up the strength and conditioning program for the staff.

 

Austin Browning 

Assistant Coach

Coach Browning is a graduate from Bluefield College located in Bluefield, Virginia. Browning is a former Flash alum from Yuma, AZ where he played 4 years of varsity baseball at Southern Arizona high school powerhouse Gila Ridge. Browning began his collegiate career as a catcher at Arizona Western College, Coach Browning was apart of the National Runner-Up team at the 2016 JUCO World Series. Austin then graduated with his associates at Gateway Community College and received a scholarship to Bluefield College. During his junior year, Browning was the starting catcher and also platooned at first base. His junior year also resulted in his team playing in the 2017 Christian College World Series. Browning is currently playing his senior year at Bluefield and will be making his coaching debut with the Flash this summer.
